Sri Lanka is an island country in the Indian Ocean characterized by tropical forests, central highlands, fertile plains, and extensive coastlines with sandy beaches.

๐Ÿ“ Sri Lanka is an island country located in South Asia, in the Indian Ocean, just southeast of the Indian subcontinent. It lies south of India, separated by the Palk Strait.
As an island nation, Sri Lanka has no land borders and is surrounded entirely by the Indian Ocean.
Sri Lankaโ€™s terrain includes coastal plains, central highlands, and mountains, with lush forests and river systems. The central region features elevated terrain and cooler climates, while the surrounding lowlands are tropical.
Its location along major Indian Ocean sea routes has historically made Sri Lanka an important center for trade, culture, and maritime exchange between Asia, the Middle East, and beyond.

What is an ISO Country Code?

ISO country codes come from the international standard ISO 3166 created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These codes are used worldwide in databases, aviation systems, banking, shipping, and international data systems to uniquely identify countries and territories.

ISO 3166-1 codes are the two-letter country codes such as US, FR, or JP. These are called Level-1 ISO codes.

Only ISO 3166-1 codes support flag emojis. Flag emojis are created by combining two Unicode regional indicator letters that match the countryโ€™s ISO two-letter code.

ISO 3166-2 codes represent states, provinces, or regions. Example: US-AZ = Arizona CA-ON = Ontario Subdivision codes do not have flag emojis.

National Symbol:

"เฎ‡เฎฒเฎ™เฏเฎ•เฏˆเฎคเฏ เฎคเฎพเฎฏเฏ" (Tamil)

(Translated: "Mother Sri Lanks"")

Sri Lanka does not have an official, legislated national motto in the same way many other nations do. However, the national anthem, "Sri Lanka Matha" ("Mother Sri Lanka"), is considered the primary national symbol. The phrase "Sri Lanka Jaya Wewa" (Victory to Sri Lanka) is also commonly used patriotically.

Sri Lanka National Anthem:

โ€œเทเทŠโ€เถปเท“ เถฝเถ‚เถšเท เถธเทเถญเทโ€

(Translated from Sinhala: "Mother Sri Lanka")
