Hong Kong WEATHER

Hong Kong is a special administrative region of China on the southern coast of the South China Sea characterized by mountainous islands, sheltered harbors, and coastal lowlands.

📍 Hong Kong is a special administrative region located on the southern coast of China, along the South China Sea. It lies east of Macau and south of the Chinese mainland city of Shenzhen. Hong Kong consists of Hong Kong Island, the Kowloon Peninsula, and the New Territories, along with numerous smaller islands.
Hong Kong’s geography is characterized by a highly varied landscape of steep mountains, coastal plains, and sheltered harbors. The territory covers about 1,104 square kilometers (426 square miles), with much of the land being hilly or mountainous and a significant portion protected as country parks. Its coastline is deeply indented, forming natural harbors such as Victoria Harbour, which has played a central role in its development. Despite its limited flat land, Hong Kong supports a dense urban population, with development concentrated in reclaimed areas and lowland zones. Its strategic coastal location and natural harbor have shaped its role as a global center for finance, trade, and transportation.

What is an ISO Country Code?

ISO country codes come from the international standard ISO 3166 created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These codes are used globally in databases, aviation systems, banking, shipping, and international data systems to uniquely identify countries and territories.

ISO 3166-1 codes are the two-letter country codes such as US, FR, or JP. These are called Level-1 ISO codes.

Only ISO 3166-1 codes support flag emojis. Flag emojis are created by combining two Unicode regional indicator letters that match the country's ISO two-letter code.

ISO 3166-2 codes represent states, provinces, or regions. Example: US-AZ = Arizona CA-ON = Ontario Subdivision codes do not have flag emojis.
