Guadeloupe is a French overseas department in the Caribbean Sea characterized by volcanic mountains, tropical rainforests, coastal plains, and coral-fringed coastlines.

📍 Guadeloupe is an overseas region of France located in the eastern Caribbean Sea, part of the Lesser Antilles. It lies southeast of Puerto Rico and north of Dominica, and consists of several islands, with the two main ones—Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre—forming a butterfly-shaped core connected by a narrow channel. As an integral part of France, it is also part of the European Union.
Guadeloupe’s geography is diverse, featuring volcanic mountains and dense rainforest on Basse-Terre, including the active volcano La Grande Soufrière, while Grande-Terre is flatter, with rolling terrain, sandy beaches, and limestone formations. The territory covers about 1,628 square kilometers (629 square miles) and includes additional smaller islands such as Marie-Galante and Les Saintes. Its varied landscapes support rich biodiversity, from tropical forests to coral reefs. Guadeloupe’s Caribbean location and natural features have shaped its economy, culture, and role as a regional center for tourism, agriculture, and trade.

What is an ISO Country Code?

ISO country codes come from the international standard ISO 3166 created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These codes are used globally in databases, aviation systems, banking, shipping, and international data systems to uniquely identify countries and territories.

ISO 3166-1 codes are the two-letter country codes such as US, FR, or JP. These are called Level-1 ISO codes.

Only ISO 3166-1 codes support flag emojis. Flag emojis are created by combining two Unicode regional indicator letters that match the country's ISO two-letter code.

ISO 3166-2 codes represent states, provinces, or regions. Example: US-AZ = Arizona CA-ON = Ontario Subdivision codes do not have flag emojis.
ISO-2 Code: GP
ISO-3 Code: GLP
