Saba is a special municipality of the Netherlands in the Caribbean Sea characterized by a steep volcanic island with rugged mountains, tropical vegetation, and rocky coastlines.

📍 Saba is a small Caribbean island located in the northeastern Caribbean Sea, west of Sint Maarten and south of Sint Eustatius. It is a special municipality of the Netherlands and forms part of the Caribbean Netherlands. Saba has no land borders and is surrounded entirely by the Caribbean Sea.
Saba’s geography is defined by its steep, rugged volcanic terrain, rising sharply from the sea with little flat land. The island covers about 13 square kilometers (5 square miles) and is dominated by Mount Scenery, an extinct volcano that is the highest point in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Its coastline is rocky with cliffs rather than sandy beaches, while the interior features lush vegetation, including cloud forest at higher elevations. The surrounding waters are rich in marine life and are protected as part of a marine park. Saba’s dramatic landscape, isolation, and natural environment have shaped its small population, limited development, and focus on conservation and eco-tourism.
