The Faroe Islands are an autonomous territory of Denmark in the North Atlantic Ocean characterized by rugged volcanic islands, steep cliffs, fjords, and grassy highlands.

📍 Canary Islands are an autonomous community of Spain located in the Atlantic Ocean, off the northwestern coast of Morocco. The archipelago consists of several main islands—including Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura—and has no land borders, being surrounded entirely by the Atlantic Ocean.
The Canary Islands’ geography is defined by their volcanic origin, featuring rugged mountains, lava fields, and dramatic coastlines. The territory covers about 7,493 square kilometers (2,893 square miles) and includes both arid lowlands and more fertile, forested highlands on some islands. The islands are home to Spain’s highest peak, Mount Teide on Tenerife, and feature a range of landscapes from sandy beaches to steep cliffs. Their subtropical climate, diverse terrain, and Atlantic location have shaped their development as a major center for tourism, agriculture, and maritime activity.

What is the ISO Code for the Faroe Islands?

ISO country codes come from the international standard ISO 3166 created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These codes are used globally in databases, aviation systems, banking, shipping, and international data systems to uniquely identify countries and territories.

ISO 3166-1 codes are the two-letter country codes such as US, FR, or JP. These are called Level-1 ISO codes.

Only ISO 3166-1 codes support flag emojis. Flag emojis are created by combining two Unicode regional indicator letters that match the territory's ISO two-letter code.

The Faroe Islands are assigned the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code:

FO

Subdivision codes do not have flag emojis.
