The Turks and Caicos Islands are a British Overseas Territory in the Atlantic Ocean characterized by low-lying coral islands, sandy beaches, and extensive coral reefs.

📍 Turks and Caicos Islands are a British Overseas Territory located in the Atlantic Ocean southeast of The Bahamas and north of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The territory consists of two main island groups—the Turks Islands and the Caicos Islands—and has no land borders, being surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean waters.
The Turks and Caicos Islands’ geography is characterized by low-lying limestone islands and extensive shallow banks, including the large Caicos Bank. The territory covers about 948 square kilometers (366 square miles) and features sandy beaches, coral reefs, and coastal wetlands such as mangroves. The islands are generally flat with limited freshwater resources, and vegetation is adapted to dry, coastal conditions. The surrounding waters are clear and rich in marine life, supporting fishing, diving, and tourism. Their location and natural environment have shaped their development as a major destination for tourism and marine-based activities in the region.

What is an ISO Country Code?

ISO country codes come from the international standard ISO 3166 created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These codes are used worldwide in databases, aviation systems, banking, shipping, and international data systems to uniquely identify countries and territories.

ISO 3166-1 codes are the two-letter country codes such as US, FR, or JP. These are called Level-1 ISO codes.

Only ISO 3166-1 codes support flag emojis. Flag emojis are created by combining two Unicode regional indicator letters that match the country’s ISO two-letter code.

ISO 3166-2 codes represent states, provinces, or regions. Example: US-AZ = Arizona CA-ON = Ontario Subdivision codes do not have flag emojis.
