Montserrat is a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean Sea characterized by volcanic mountains, tropical forests, and rugged coastlines.

📍 Montserrat is a British Overseas Territory located in the eastern Caribbean Sea, part of the Lesser Antilles. It lies southwest of Antigua and Barbuda and northwest of Guadeloupe, with no land borders and surrounded entirely by the Caribbean Sea.
Montserrat’s geography is defined by rugged, volcanic terrain within an area of about 102 square kilometers (39 square miles). The island is dominated by the active Soufrière Hills volcano in the south, which has significantly shaped the landscape through eruptions and ash deposits. The northern part of the island is greener and more suitable for settlement, while the south remains largely restricted. Its coastline includes rocky cliffs and small beaches, and the island supports tropical vegetation and forests. Montserrat’s volcanic activity, natural environment, and Caribbean location have influenced its population distribution, economy, and role in regional tourism and research.
