The United States Virgin Islands are an unincorporated territory of the United States in the Caribbean Sea characterized by hilly volcanic islands, tropical forests, and coral-fringed coastlines.

📍 United States Virgin Islands are an island territory located in the northeastern Caribbean Sea, east of Puerto Rico and south of the British Virgin Islands. They are an unincorporated territory of the United States and consist of the main islands of Saint Thomas, Saint John, and Saint Croix, along with several smaller islands, with no land borders and surrounded entirely by the Caribbean Sea.
The United States Virgin Islands’ geography is characterized by hilly terrain, coastal plains, and a varied coastline with bays, beaches, and coral reefs. The territory covers about 346 square kilometers (134 square miles) and features tropical vegetation, including forests and mangroves, along with dry areas in some regions. The surrounding waters are clear and rich in marine biodiversity, supporting fishing, tourism, and conservation. Their location in the northeastern Caribbean and natural harbors have shaped their role as a center for tourism, maritime activity, and regional trade.
