Tonga is an island country in the South Pacific Ocean consisting of a chain of volcanic and coral islands, characterized by tropical forests, coral reefs, and sandy coastlines.

📍 Tonga is an island country located in Oceania, in the South Pacific Ocean, east of Fiji. It lies southeast of Fiji, southwest of Samoa, and northeast of New Zealand.
As an island nation, Tonga has no land borders and is surrounded entirely by the Pacific Ocean. It consists of more than 170 islands, grouped into three main island chains: Tongatapu, Haʻapai, and Vavaʻu.
Tonga’s terrain varies from low coral islands to volcanic islands with higher elevations. The country has a tropical climate, with rich marine ecosystems and fertile land for agriculture. Its location in the Pacific has historically made it part of Polynesian navigation routes and cultural exchange.

What is an ISO Country Code?

ISO country codes come from the international standard ISO 3166 created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These codes are used worldwide in databases, aviation systems, banking, shipping, and international data systems to uniquely identify countries and territories.

ISO 3166-1 codes are the two-letter country codes such as US, FR, or JP. These are called Level-1 ISO codes.

Only ISO 3166-1 codes support flag emojis. Flag emojis are created by combining two Unicode regional indicator letters that match the country’s ISO two-letter code.

ISO 3166-2 codes represent states, provinces, or regions. Example: US-AZ = Arizona CA-ON = Ontario Subdivision codes do not have flag emojis.
