Algeria is the largest country in Africa, featuring vast Sahara Desert landscapes, rugged mountain ranges such as the Atlas Mountains, and a Mediterranean coastline in North Africa.

📍 Algeria is a vast country located in North Africa, forming part of the Maghreb region along the southern edge of the Mediterranean. It is the largest country in Africa and serves as a geographic bridge between the Mediterranean coast and the deep Sahara Desert. Algeria is bordered by Tunisia and Libya to the east, Niger and Mali to the south, Mauritania, Western Sahara, and Morocco to the west, and the Mediterranean Sea to the north.
Much of Algeria’s interior is dominated by the Sahara Desert, covering around 80% of the country, with vast dunes, rocky plateaus, and arid landscapes. The more fertile and populated regions lie in the north along the Mediterranean coast, where the Atlas Mountains run parallel to the shoreline, influencing climate and settlement. Algeria’s strategic location has historically made it a key center for trade, cultural exchange, and interaction between Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
