South Sudan is a landlocked country in East-Central Africa characterized by vast wetlands such as the Sudd, tropical savannas, and river systems dominated by the White Nile.

📍 South Sudan is a landlocked country located in East-Central Africa, positioned in the upper Nile region. It is bordered by Sudan to the north, Ethiopia to the east, Kenya and Uganda to the south, and Democratic Republic of the Congo and Central African Republic to the west.
South Sudan’s landscape consists of vast plains, wetlands, and savannas, with the White Nile River flowing through the country and forming extensive swamps such as the Sudd, one of the largest wetlands in the world. The terrain supports wildlife and agriculture but also presents challenges for transportation and development.
South Sudan’s location along the Nile has historically made it significant for regional trade and cultural exchange, connecting central Africa with northeastern regions.

What is an ISO Country Code?

ISO country codes come from the international standard ISO 3166 created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These codes are used worldwide in databases, aviation systems, banking, shipping, and international data systems to uniquely identify countries and territories.

ISO 3166-1 codes are the two-letter country codes such as US, FR, or JP. These are called Level-1 ISO codes.

Only ISO 3166-1 codes support flag emojis. Flag emojis are created by combining two Unicode regional indicator letters that match the country’s ISO two-letter code.

ISO 3166-2 codes represent states, provinces, or regions. Example: US-AZ = Arizona CA-ON = Ontario Subdivision codes do not have flag emojis.
