Cabo Verde is an island country in the central Atlantic Ocean off the coast of West Africa, consisting of a volcanic archipelago characterized by rugged mountains, dry valleys, and coastal plains.

📍 Cabo Verde is an island country located in the Atlantic Ocean, off the northwest coast of Africa. It lies west of Senegal and is part of the Macaronesia region, a group of Atlantic island archipelagos.
As an island nation, Cabo Verde has no land borders and is entirely surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. The country consists of a group of volcanic islands divided into two main clusters: the Barlavento (windward) and Sotavento (leeward) islands. Its terrain is generally rugged and mountainous, with some islands featuring active or dormant volcanoes, while others are more arid and flat.
Cabo Verde’s location has historically made it an important stop for maritime trade routes between Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Its climate is typically dry, influenced by its position off the Sahara, and its geography has shaped both its culture and economic activities, including fishing, tourism, and trade.

What is an ISO Country Code?

ISO country codes come from the international standard ISO 3166 created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These codes are used globally in databases, aviation systems, banking, shipping, and international data systems to uniquely identify countries and territories.

ISO 3166-1 codes are the two-letter country codes such as US, FR, or JP. These are called Level-1 ISO codes.

Only ISO 3166-1 codes support flag emojis. Flag emojis are created by combining two Unicode regional indicator letters that match the country's ISO two-letter code.

ISO 3166-2 codes represent states, provinces, or regions. Example: US-AZ = Arizona CA-ON = Ontario Subdivision codes do not have flag emojis.
